New owners took over Lorette’s Home Hardware with a grand re-opening celebration last week.

Jacques Bouchard, Devon de Rocquigny, Allen Chen and Shirley Yang took over from Dave and Jessica Audette, who sold the store before retiring.

The keys were officially handed over on April 1.

Bouchard said he decided to take over this southeast store as he already takes care of the Morris location and he lives in St Pierre, right in the middle of the two locations.

“It’s always a dream of mine to own a Home Hardware store once I bought my first Home Hardware in Morris,” said Bouchard. “Then it was where do I go from here once I got that store up and running. Then I decided to look into expanding.”

Bouchard added taking over a store similar in size to Morris was important to him as it would be easier to understand what needs to be done.

He added that the store won’t be changing from what the Audettes had before, except for maybe widening their selection.

An expansion could be in the store’s future according to Bouchard, who said that would mean either moving locations or growing the building.

A complimentary coffee bar and a 50/50 raffle were part of the celebrations with proceeds going to the Tache Food Resource Centre.
