The annual fundraiser is an important one for Niverville.

Ron Parent, executive chairman for the NHC said the gala will be a lot of fun, while simultaneously fundraising for the community.

“The Niverville Heritage Centre holds a very special place within the heart of Niverville and the surrounding community,” he said.

Money raised from this year’s gala will go to repairing the remainder of the Niverville Credit Union Manor’s roof, new clinical and life enrichment equipment for the Manor and the Heritage Life Personal Care Home, furniture, and helping the Open Health Clinic.

Last year, the gala raised just over $94,000, Parent said they hope to raise more this year. A 50/50 is planned for September and October which will be on the website once it’s set up.

“We’re hoping to do a little better this year, but whatever is donated we’re always happy to receive,” he said.

Since 2014, NHC has raised $615,000 through donations from the community.

Parent said the centre is happy to have two high profile guests and an amzaing meal which is set to be roast beef.

“We’re very lucky to have them, We’re a hockey province, we love our hockey,” said Parent. “I have no doubt that their years of experience, their expertise will be passed on through their stories and the evening.”

Last year, the host was Jon Montgomery, host of The Amazing Race Canada and Olympic Gold Medallist. The host before him was longtime curler and another Olympic Gold Medallist Jennifer Jones.

This year’s event takes place Nov. 4.
