Steinbach Fire Department responded to an outbuilding ablaze on Hespeler Avenue in the late afternoon of Sept. 20. Deputy Fire Chief Ron Chausse said they focused their energy on ensuring the fire did not spread to neighbouring structures or the field and bush further back on the property. Fire crews were on the scene for about an hour-and-a-half, returning the following day for some mopping up. “Our biggest concern there was to make sure the fire didn’t spread,” he said.
