The Town of Grunthal will host its first community Christmas in an effort to bring holiday cheer.
“This is the first time that they’re going to be doing a tree lighting,” said Tayleigh Giesbrecht, recreation programmer for the RM of Hanover. “It’s happening on Dec. 7. All the festivities will start around 5:30 and they go to around 8:30. There’ll be public skating, bonfires, sleigh rides, and Dexter’s Mini Donuts will be there and there’ll be some caroling and Santa will be there and a tree lighting.”
The event is being put on by the LUD of Grunthal and Grunthal Recreation Committee. The tree lighting ceremony and all the events will be held at or nearby the Access Credit Union with the exception of the public skate which will be held at the Grunthal Arena.
“This is the first time that this is happening but hopefully there’s more than just the Grunthal community,” Giesbrecht said.
Hopefully all of Hanover or more,” she added, saying she hopes it becomes annual. “Individuals can come and families.”
Although the evening is free, organizers are asking the public to bring a tin for the bin.
