A come-from-behind 7-5 win in Roblin Saturday night and a 2-1 victory in Steinbach Sunday afternoon clinched the Manitoba juvenile hockey championship for the Steinbach Huskies.

The team advanced to the finals against Roblin on the strength of series wins over a Niverville-St Malo team and a team from Hartney.

Although they trailed Roblin by period scores of 3-1 and 5-3 in the first game of the series, the Steinbach team came back with four big goals in the first period of the game to walk away with a 7-5 victory and set the stage for a sweep in Steinbach, Sunday.

Steinbach took the lead in the game in the first period on a goal by Reg Penner. Gary Kowan tied the score in the second, but Ernie Hiebert scored for Steinbach to give the home team the margin of victory and save them a second trip to Roblin.

The same lineup, with the exception of a few players ineligible for high school play, will be in action at the Steinbach Arena this weekend, when the Sabres host the provincial high school championship tournament.
