Prince Albert Raiders general manager Curtis Hunt didn’t mince words when he was asked what drew their eyes to Jackson Kostiuk.

Kostuik recently made the move from Steinbach in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League to the Raiders, with Hunt saying the team pays close attention to any player who thrives for the Pistons.

“Paul Dyck is their coach and he’s a tremendous coach,” Hunt said in an article on Kostiuk posted to the Raiders website.

“He’s got great experience, comes from pro hockey and he’s done a great job with their program.

Prince Albert’s scouting staff got a chance to see Kostiuk up close and personal at the World Junior A challenge camp this year, and were impressed enough to list Kostiuk as a potential player before the turn of the new year.

“(Kostiuk) seemed to be always in and around the play and I think a guy who can be a game changer,” Hunt said.

“He plays fearless and he can get around the ice very, very well.”

Kostiuk, a 2006-born forward from East St Paul, was drafted by Saskatoon in the 10th round of the 2021 Western Hockey League draft, but was released before he signed with Steinbach.
