The flood risk for Southeast Manitoba is low according to a Tuesday provincial press release and that included the chance of 10 to 15 cm of snow this weekend.
Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure’s Hydrologic Forecast Centre stated that the low flood risk includes the Red River, Pembina River, Rat River, Roseau River, and the Whiteshell Lakes area.
Moderate risk occurs in parts of the Assiniboine River system.
While the effects of the forecasted snow are included in this flood outlook, the province says future conditions will play a role.
“Spring flood risk is largely dependent on weather conditions from now until the melt is done,” they stated.
Minimal operation of the Red River Floodway is expected.
Ice cutting and breaking activities are completed on the Red River, and the province advises people to stay off all bodies of water.
