The first ever Hope in Heels Fashion Gala hosted by Southeast Cancer Support Services (SCSS) has added additional tables and tickets after it was sold out in three days.
The SCSS has confirmed the fashion show and dessert finale will be moved to the ice surface of the Southeast Event Centre which will accommodate guests who have tickets, and those on the waiting list while opening it up to others.
“It was very important to give families and friends of our survivors, caregivers, medical professionals, supporters and volunteers the opportunity to share this celebration of hope, together,” SCSS executive director Cindi Rempel Patrick said in a Monday press release. “This event encourages hope for cancer patients currently on their cancer journey and for survivors who need hope to remain cancer free.”
Funds raised will support SCSS services locally.
The reception of hope will be hosted on the main level of the atrium.
It includes culinary delights from Country Meat & Deli, a wine bar, live entertainment by Scott Jodoin and David Graham, the GNM signature unveiling, the hope auction, a photo booth, designer show displays and an honour show gallery.
The fashion show and finale will take place at ice level.
“An array of creative fashions provided by eight local merchants will be modelled by cancer survivors, caregivers, medical professionals and volunteers as they inspire us with their stories, followed by a grand finale of delectable desserts by Old Church Bakery serviced on LynnLiana trays and PERK coffee,” they said in the release.
Also new to the event are six grand prizes.
Tickets can be purchased to win a pair of tickets to anywhere West Jet flies; a Winnipeg Jets jersey, two tickets and memorabilia; a resort vacation certificate for seven nights; the Hummingbird Hope quilt; Christian Louboutin Designer Shoes, or a skin/wellness package from Sonne Clinic, Skin Rehab and Ashley & Rae Aesthetics.
SCSS provides a transportation program for patients from the 88 communities across the Southeast, driving them to their treatments, offering support groups, head coverings, wellness programs and palliative resource assistance.
“Cancer patients encounter many hidden costs, and these funds go directly into the pocket of patients/families to assist them on this very challenging journey,” the press release stated. “It makes a positive difference.”
