Steinbach Regional DB to play at high-profile prospects event

Juddah Wohlgemuth will get a chance to impress on one of the biggest stages a Canadian football prospect can play in.

The Steinbach Regional Secondary School defensive back was named to the CanadaFootballChat.com’s fifth annual prospect game.

TSN analysts Davis Sanchez and Milt Stegall are set to return as coaches for the event, which is broadcast on the network. The game is moving from Ottawa to Hamilton this season.

To be selected, players were invited to one of eight “professional combine settings,” with events like the 40-yard dash, shuttle, vertical and broad jump.

Steinbach Regional is in the middle of their rookie spring practices.

“Juddah has a very exciting opportunity in a few weeks,” SRSS head coach Stephan Fedus said.

“He’s worked hard the last couple years, on the field and in the weight room, playing 7 on 7 and with the provincial team. He’s worked hard for the chance.”

CanadaFootballChat.com President Lee Barette said this year’s roster was the deepest ever in a news release, noting alumni from the game include now high profile NCAA players.

“The CFC Prospect Game is all about setting the foundation for future success at the college and pro level,” TSN analyst Duane Forde said.

“It’s a tremendous opportunity for top high school prospects from coast to coast to test their skills on the national stage against the best from other provinces, under the tutelage of some of Canada’s best university coaches.”

The 2008-born Wohlgemuth is one of only three players from Manitoba to be named to the CFC game’s roster, joining Dakota’s Ryan North and Hudson Cvetkovic.
