Trailer from Steinbach found in stolen property bust

A search warrant in Wheatland, a community northwest of Brandon, resulted in a treasure trove of stolen goods including an enclosed trailer RCMP say they believe was stolen from a Steinbach business.

RCMP from Carberry, Souris and Brandon were involved in the investigation that began on May 7 after they were tipped off about the stolen property.

Police found more than $45,000 worth of stolen property including John Deere equipment.

While police were on the property the male suspect drove by and was pulled over.

Christopher Bell, 42, from Wheatland was arrested and charged with four counts of possessing weapons contrary to a court order, three counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Bell was released and will appear in court in Brandon on May 26.
