An unknown female who promised to fight hospital staff at Bethesda Regional Health Centre so that police would have to “clean up after her”, forced the facility into lockdown for about two hours on June 8.

Southern Health released a statement saying they received the call at 1:30 p.m. “indicating a potential threat of violence”.

In accordance with policies they initiated lockdown protocol and directed the public to report to the Emergency Department entrance where RCMP and security personnel were stationed.

RCMP say they made contact with the caller who identified as “Allie”.

“She called from a phone App with an Ohio prefix stating she was frustrated by hospital staff and was on her way to fight with them,” an email from Sgt. Chris Haskins said. “Police were able to make phone contact with the female but she refused to provide details as to who she was, what her specific concerns were or cooperate in any useful manner.”

RCMP say after further discussions with the female they determined there was no credible imminent threat to staff or the hospital and the lockdown was lifted.

The investigation continues.
