The Winnipeg Jets are making a habit out of inviting Niverville Nighthawks to their development camp.
Last year forward Nathan Brown got the call, and this year Lorette’s Avery Laliberte will be in attendance.
The defenseman had 39 points in 53 games for the Nighthawks, taking on a massive defensive burden. He also won a bronze medal at the World Junior A Challenge while playing for Team Canada West. He’s set to join the University of Northern Michigan.

He joined Niverville strength and conditioning coach Rob Pambrun at the Jets camp, which kicked off July 1.
Former Steinbach Pistons d-man Warren Clark, who was drafted straight out of the MJHL, is back at the Tampa Bay Lightnings’ development camp. Drafted in 2023, he is one of six defenseman to earn an invite to the NHL club’s camp.
Clark has spent the last two seasons with St Cloud State in the NCAA’s top division.
Other former MJHL players to get named to development camp rosters include 2020/2021 stars Evan Friesen (Winnipeg Blues) and goaltender Reid Dyck (Winkler Flyers) who are set to attend the Colorado Avalanche and New York Islanders’ camps respectively.
Spokane Chiefs goalie Dawson Cowan, who starred for the Winnipeg Blues in 2021/2022, will be at the Columbus Blue Jackets camp.
Former Steelers player Adam Ingram, who was drafted by Nashville in 2022 after a season with the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL, will be heading to the Predators’ camp.
