St Adolphe’s Graeme Pickering continues to thrive in his hockey career.
The 2009-born player was one of 23 defenseman named to Team Canada’s U17 development camp roster. The camp took place in Oakville July 19-23. Hockey Canada also named a roster for their U18 selection camp as well.
Alan Millar is the general manager of Hockey Canada’s program of excellence and selected the players for the U17 camp alongside Mike Johnston.

“Our under-18 selection camp provides us with an opportunity to evaluate players and select a roster that we believe will give us the best chance to defend our gold medal at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup,” Millar said in a Hockey Canada news release.
“Our under-17 camp is an opportunity to introduce athletes to the Program of Excellence and allow them to compete against other top players in Canada while we begin evaluating and preparing for the U17 World Challenge this fall.”
Players, including Pickering, will be hoping to nab a spot on one of Team Canada’s U17 World Challenge teams. The tournament will take place in Nova Scotia this fall.
Pickering was drafted by the Red Deer Rebels in the first round of the WHL entry draft in 2024 and joined Rink Hockey Academy this season. He had 29 points in 27 games while playing for the academy’s U15 prep team, helping them to an appearance in the U15 Prep Western Championships.
Pickering is the brother of Owen and Avery Pickering, who have both suited up for Team Canada in recent years as well. Owen was drafted in the first round of the NHL draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins and made his NHL debut this year, while Avery is about to start her junior year with Colgate University in the NCAA.
