For the second year, the Night Market at Towne Square is bringing back the razzle dazzle of a night market to Steinbach.
“I thought it would be fun event to have in the evening and it’s a different crowd and it’s more about community and not so much about going and spending money, although that obviously helps and is a great part of it, but we wanted to make a space for makers to come and also have a good time and build a community in the space and have different things and for different crowds in Steinbach,” said Milieu Market owner Julia Plett.
The brainchild of Plett, the night market will feature about 25 vendors, a car show, a beer garden, a bouncy castle, a coffee bar, and much more. The night market will also have live entertainment with music from Crystelle Wiebe, a reading by local author Brad Klassen, and a presentation by local philanthropist Candy Dyck.

“We thought it would be a fun mini-Summer in the City for one evening,” she said, noting the evening was co-organized by Elijah Penner of Rooke and Rover.
The event will be located in Towne Square and will run from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Aug. 15.
“The markets I loved were the ones that had more atmosphere of a full circle event of a night basically,” said Plett. “I know that we have some incredible farmers’ markets and artisan markets in Steinbach, but I was just looking for something as a vendor it would be a lot of fun to hang out.
“I got my parents coming out to the night markets that we did and hanging out and it was just a lot of fun and I just wanted to create that same environment with this market – just somewhere that weas fun to come and interact get to know people in the community and get to do that stuff.”
The inaugural year of the night market it rained – a lot. Despite this, about 200 people showed up to the event. Plett hopes for better weather this year and more people.
“We are just excited to be able to come out and hang out with everybody in the community.”
