An adult male accused of supplying alcohol to youth at a party in his home was brought down by a conducted energy weapon (CEW) before being taken into custody.
Manitoba First Nations Police issued the news release on Aug. 6, saying they received the report of the adult male providing youth with alcohol at a house party on Roseau River First Nation.
At the residence, police say they were met by a crowd of people “causing a huge disturbance”.
“Police attempted to speak to the male homeowner, the male produced a knife and advanced towards police,” they said. “After being told numerous times to drop the knife and not complying, police deployed a CEW on the male who was then taken into custody.”
The man was arrested for assault and later released with conditions awaiting his court date.
