Siobhan Maas was five miles away from her home listening to her audiobook until a deer collided with her vehicle on Aug. 5.
Maas is the sole-owner and instructor of Maas Driving School in Morris.
Maas Driving School is temporarily closed until the driver’s ed vehicle is fixed. She hopes to have Maas Driving School open on Sept. 15.
“My life changed last night. Physically, I’m fine. I’m bruised and sore and a bit traumatized, but inside, I’m different,” she wrote in her Facebook page.
She uses the 2020 Nissan Kicks for her driving lessons services.
Maas said she is losing a twelfth of her yearly income.
Maas said she doesn’t have the funds to get another vehicle with a secondary passenger seat brake and she will have to wait until the car is fixed.
“It’s frustrating,” said Maas.
She worked with 200 driving students last year she told The Carillon.
She is losing around $1,300 from the 20 hours of lessons students pre-booked with her before the collision.
