The second fastest growing chamber of commerce in Canada is doing well. That’s what members heard at the Oct. 2 AGM from the Steinbach Chamber of Commerce.
The online only meeting saw them celebrate their growth, with 48 new chamber members for the year beginning Sept. 1, 2024.
President Tracy Gromniski said in her report that this was a year of growth, momentum and recognition for their chamber.
“What excites me most is not just the milestones we’ve achieved but the way our chamber has been acknowledged as a leader locally, provincially and nationally,” she said. “Together, we have shown what’s possible when a chamber is purposeful, connected and driven by its members.”
She said the year featured sold-out events, strengthened advocacy and the recognition that they are one of the fastest growing chambers in Canada.
The advocacy committee was established in October 2024 and Gromniski said they have been successful in engaging directly with provincial leaders, collaborating with the Steinbach city council and welcoming delegates for their second Manitoba chambers economic development tour.
The national recognition came from the Chamber of Commerce Executives of Canada who recognized the local chamber’s 16 percent membership growth rate and their total of over 500 members.
Taste of Steinbach, an event that has grown year over year, attracted 620 to the Southeast Event Centre.
Local chamber mixers have also consistently sold out.
Gromniski also highlighted the Business Excellence Awards, Burger Days, Chamber Challenge and the Pioneer Days Parade.
Eastman Immigrant Services, also managed under the chamber umbrella boasted success as well.
“Since the start of 2025, over 700 new clients have received support, with families arriving from the Philippines, Ukraine, Nigeria, India and Germany,” her report stated. “Programs like settlement services, school settlement, and English language training have guided families through thousands of services and appointments while over 100 students have enrolled in language classes to gain the skills and confidence needed for daily life and work.”
Three new board members were added as well. Neil Fast, Leane Janz and Steve Derksen took a seat at the table.
Adam Neustaedter and Bailey Sumner completed their terms and did not seek reelection.
Tracy Gromniski, Eugene Warwaruk, Gerald Banman, and Gion Delvecchio were reelected.
The remaining board members including Dwayne Doroshuk, Chris Esau, Dom Trotta, Lionel Ewbank and Sajda Siemens will see their terms end in 2026 or 2027.
