Organizers of Looking Glass Theatre’s first community talent show say they’re excited to welcome visiting performers and locals to the stage.

Their first ever talent show takes place Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. at the Pat Porter Active Living Centre.

The event was announced earlier this year, and they’ve only added to the lineup.

Marc A. Moir, co-artistic director of Looking Glass Theatre, said they’ve added Spencer Adamus, fresh off the Just For Laughs Comedy Tour.

Other celebrity guests include Tracy Dahl, Catherine Wreford, Jon Ted Wyne and Harry Nelken. They will join a lineup of nearly two dozen local acts.

Moir said since it was first announced, they’ve been happy with how it’s come together.

“We are so encouraged and excited by both the local participation and the stars we’ve been able to bring in,” he said. “It’s going to be one memorable night for everyone.”

In fact, this caliber and variety of talent is rarely seen on one stage.

“We are so excited to host this event,” he said. “This may be the biggest night of entertainment Steinbach has ever seen. You will not want to miss it.”

Looking Glass Theatre founders Marc Moir and Laura Kathleen Turner organized the event as a fundraiser for a community theatre, estimated to cost about $1 million.

“There’s so much performance happening and not a dedicated stage space for it,” Turner told The Carillon this summer. “What we would do, when we have a building is we would open it up for affordable rentals for people in the community to use. It’s just a big community project that we’re excited to start.”

The pair have also started a GoFundMe page to raise $10,000 for construction of the theatre. It can be found at gofundme.com/f/Steinbach-theatre.

“We hope folks all over the Southeast will buy a ticket, buy a season pass, donate to our GoFundMe and join with us in our dream of building a proper theatre in Steinbach,” Moir said.

Tickets for the event cost $50 and are available at simpli.events/e/talent-show or at the door if supplies last.
