Eastman Selects players will be suiting up for provincial teams, as Hockey Manitoba announced the rosters for the U16 2025 Western Hockey League Cup and Women’s U18 National Championship.

Dominion City’s Crosby Mateychuk will play for Team Manitoba the WHL Cup. After attending camp with the Vancouver Giants, Mateychuk is back in Steinbach playing for the Eastman Selects, where he’s been a dominant force from the back end.

Crosby is the brother of Columbus Blue Jackets d-man Denton Mateychuk and has has six points in just four games for the U18 AAA Selects.

He scored a brilliant goal in Eastman’s 3-2 loss to Parkland Oct. 19, jumping up into a rush, deking around a defender and roofing a shot short side past the goaltender. Mateychuk was announced as one of Team Manitoba’s assistant captains in a social media post made Oct. 22.

The WHL Cup will be hosted in Red Deer, Alta. Oct. 22-26. The tournament features the best young talent from provinces across Western Canada. The tournament will be broadcast on the league’s YouTube page.

On the women’s side, a pair of Selects standouts who helped the team to a provincial championship last season were named to Team Manitoba. Goaltender Addison Tomes and defender Vayda Rigaux will don the Buffalo at the Women’s National Championship at Newfoundland and Labrador Nov. 2-8.

Tomes has picked up right where she left off, posting a 3-0 record with a 0.957 save percentage to start the season in the Manitoba Female Hockey League.

Rigaux set a new record for points by an Eastman Selects U18 defenseman last year, scoring at more than a point-per-game pace. The team has picked up right where they left off, winning a tournament in Minnesota this weekend with four consecutive shutouts.
