Communities across Southeastern Manitoba are holding Remembrance Day ceremonies on Nov. 11 to honour Canadian veterans and fallen soldiers.
Steinbach:
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #190 will be hosting a service at the Pat Porter Active Living Centre, located at 10 Chrysler Gate. The service starts at 10:45 and runs until noon. Afterwards, veterans and cadets from Steinbach’s 307 Stoneybrook Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron and Lorette-based Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Dawson will march from the active living centre to the Steinbach cenotaph at the corner of Main Street and Reimer Avenue.
Niverville:
A Remembrance Day ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. inside the Niverville Community Resource & Recreation Centre, located at 501 Centre St. Speeches will be shared, along with local police and firefighters laying wreaths during the event. Coffee and a light lunch will be available afterwards.
Lorette:
College Lorette Collegiate, located at 1082 Dawson Rd, will host a service at 10:30 a.m. Doors open at 10 a.m. Coffee, hot chocolate and dainties will be served following the service.
St Norbert:
A wreath-laying ceremony will be at the St Norbert cenotaph in the St Norbert Cemetery, located at 870 Sainte Therese Ave. The event will also be livestreamed on the YouTube channel “stnorbertremembranceday1981.”
St-Pierre-Jolys:
St Pierre Recreation Centre, located at 545 Hébert Ave., will host a ceremony 10:45 a.m. The event will include buglers, songs and prayers. Wreaths will be laid at the St Pierre Jolys cenotaph.
St Adolphe:
Ceremonies will begin at 10:45 a.m. at the cenotaph, located at 352 Main St.. Refreshments will follow at the RM of Ritchot administrative building.
Morris:
The Morris Legion Branch will host service at the Morris Multiplex, located at 380 Stampede Grounds, at 10:45 a.m.
Whitemouth:
A service will be held at 10 a.m. at the Whitemouth Hall, located at 61 First St.
