Morris RCMP are looking for information that will lead to the arrest of a suspected arsonist who took two tries before he succeeded in his goal.

The initial call came to police on Oct. 10 at 2:40 a.m. as a commercial alarm at a property on Road 6W in the RM of Morris. The property owner told police someone had driven a front-end loader through the front door.

“Police responded immediately and upon entering the building, noted a strong odour of diesel fuel and observed jerry cans, filled with diesel, on pallets loaded onto a forklift,” they said in a Wednesday press release. “Upon closer inspection of the area, it appeared that someone had tried to light the building on fire but was unsuccessful.”

This time the owner confirmed the building was on fire.

Police observed wood pallets completely engulfed in flames close to the building.

They said they had been deliberately set on fire.
