The Village of St Pierre-Jolys has closed its arena for urgent structural repairs.
According to a press release issued by the village, earlier reports indicated that there are age-related general risks inside the arena and the report recommended further analysis and monitoring. A more recent in-depth engineering report confirmed that “specific areas require critical attention” and recommended immediate repairs.
“While this temporary closure is disheartening, we remain committed to maintaining the safety and security of our residents and visitors. We extend our sincere gratitude to our neighbouring rural communities for rallying together by sacrificing their scheduled ice times to keep junior teams active, and to our administration and operators who are working tirelessly alongside the professional team to complete the repairs quickly, safely, and efficiently.”
The municipality is forecasting the tentative reopening will happen Jan.1, 2026, however the village stresses that this timeline may change if additional areas of concern are discovered during the repairs. The village will provide updates as the repairs progress.
