“Being selected as a finalist is an honour and is in large part due to our many great volunteers. Just being selected as a finalist puts a spotlight on us and our small-town feel. I can’t wait to see Niverville win and have the Jets in our community come March.”

Morris was the first town to host a takeover in 2019.

The Jets set up shop in a town during an away game, hosting a watch party for the community alongside a full day of other activities, including appearances by alumni who participate in on-ice sessions with local minor hockey teams.

The 2026 event will be the first one since 2023. The Jets Town Takeover will take place March 19, as the team plays Boston.

“Thank you to all the communities that put time and effort into their submissions, the passion shown for the Winnipeg Jets from towns across Manitoba was inspiring to see,” manager of community relations for True North Sports + Entertainment Kory Harnum said in a news release.

“We’re excited to bring engaging programming and gameday energy to one of the three amazing communities.”

Fans from towns across the province submitted videos online before the finalists were announced. Voting between the three communities is open until just before midnight on Dec. 12. Fans can vote once per day at www.winnipegjets.com/jetstowntakeover.
