With the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials scheduled for the same week as the superspiel, there was less star power on the ice in Morris this year.

Team Calvert, out of Winnipeg has made a habit of performing well at the event, losing in the final in their first season together and winning back-to-back championships, including this year.

More changes are on the way at the Morris Curling Club, as the attached training centre is set to enter a new era. The province’s first-ever year-round training centre had been sponsored by Cargill since it’s inception a decade ago.

“From the beginning, Cargill’s goal was to invest in a place that strengthens community and the sport we love,” Cargill said in a news release.

“Ten years later, the center is thriving and our support for the community it serves remains steadfast. We’re honored to have been part of its beginning and excited to watch the center build on its legacy of excellence.”
