Kidd, who was born in Dugald and played on one of the first Eastman Selects teams when the program was founded in the 1987/1988 season, would go on to play nearly 400 NHL games.

He won the Western Hockey League’s goaltender of the year award in 1990 and helped the Spokane Chiefs to the Memorial Cup the next season. Kidd also won a silver medal at the 1992 Winter Olympics, highlighting a strong national team stint.

Award winners and hall of fame inductees were honoured at a banquet April 24.

The 2010-born player posted an incredible season with Rink Hockey Academy last year, scoring at a point-per-game pace for the program’s U18 team despite his younger age.
