Steinbach Credit Union announced an interim CEO on Monday, following the departure of CEO, Curtis Wennberg who stepped down from his role on Aug. 1.
James Gosselin, SCU’s chief corporate sales officer, will assume the role of CEO for a 12-month term.
Board chair Maria Reimer pointed to Gosselin’s three decades with SCU which she said included a proven track record in corporate leadership and a deep understanding of the credit union system and Manitoba’s business landscape.
“SCU is extremely fortunate to have a leader of James’ caliber to step up as interim CEO,” she said in the Monday press release.
While Gosselin has been with Steinbach Credit Union since 1995 beginning as senior agriculture and commercial lending account manager, his experience with credit unions goes back to 1984.
He’s also been the vice president of corporate lending, executive vice president of corporate sales and most recently the chief corporate sales officer since 2019.
He described filling the role during the transition as an honour and a privilege.
“Stepping into this role, I look forward to working closely with our board and executive leadership team,” he said. “We have a clear path forward, and our priority remains the same; delivering exceptional service to our members every day.”
Curtis Wennberg will serve as a senior advisor to the board through November.
