Steinbach has a new reporter at The Carillon newsroom. Adi Kapoor holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Mumbai University, India, and a postgraduate certificate in journalism from Humber College, Toronto. After completing his studies, Kapoor joined CBC as a news reporter in Yellowknife, NWT.
Kapoor is trained as a multiplatform reporter, but he values print journalism most. According to him, print journalism is crucial because it is detailed, permanent and tells a story in a comprehensive manner. Kapoor speaks four languages: English, Hindi, Punjabi and French, which allows him to develop deeper connections with diverse communities.
Kapoor has already embedded himself in the community and is aware of some issues that people in southeast Manitoba are actively talking about on social media. Kapoor plans to do his best to report on relevant issues so that people feel heard and have a reliable source of information to verify facts.
Reporting has always been Kapoor’s dream job. He believes journalism is crucial to every community because it ensures a well-informed populace. Kapoor follows a reporting style based on the principles of accuracy and being unbiased.
Kapoor’s journalism journey began in India, and he moved to Canada in 2023 for further studies; now he has become a part of the Steinbach community, where he hopes to settle down and do storytelling that matters to the people and drives them to read more.
Kapoor decided to join The Carillon because it complements his career goals and gives him the opportunity to focus on the exact skills that he wants to develop. He also loves living in close-knit communities like Steinbach where the people are actively participating in community events and creating new stories every day. Kapoor believes Steinbach will give him many stories to tell and help him become a reporter that people trust.
