An immersive fantasy-themed outdoor attraction, Maewood Enchanted Forest, drew about 500 visitors during its inaugural season.

The attraction, organized by Frontier Events, wrapped up its season on Sunday in La Broquerie after running for two weekends.

It invited families and young adults to explore forest trails, interact with costumed characters, search for hidden treasure, and participate in interactive games.

Executive director Luke Thiessen said the idea behind the attraction was a shared dream with his late mother, Sharon Mae Thiessen.

“I used to, I still do live action role play as a hobby, and my mother had a background in children’s ministry and she used to run elaborate events for me and my friends at Halloween,” Thiessen said. “As I grew older we sort of started up this shared dream of creating an enchanted forest.”

Thiessen said the attraction will be back in 2027 and he hopes to run it for a longer time.
