The Mennonite Heritage Village has found its replacement for departing executive director Barry Dyck, who has served in the role since Feb. 2009.

On Tuesday, the museum board announced that Gary Dyck has been hired into the role.

Dyck, an SRSS graduate, has a Bachelor of Arts in Intercultural Studies from Briercrest College and a Master of Arts in Global Studies from Providence University College.

The museum noted in its release that in feeding his passion for making Mennonite history relevant, Dyck has toured Anabaptist sites in Europe and has had the enviable opportunity of visiting numerous museums around the world.

The incoming executive is skilled in a number of languages including English, Uzbek, Uyghur, Mandarin, Russian and French.

His experiences and skills will allow him to initiate successful connections with tourists, donors, colleagues and government officials, the museum said.

Dyck, who lives in Steinbach with his wife Andrea and their three children, will begin his new role in February 2019.
