The STARS air ambulance was required in Grunthal on Sunday afternoon following an accident during the Heartland Rodeo finals.

The air ambulance was dispatched after 4:30 p.m. and landed in a soccer field to complete the transfer of a young patient who experienced a “steer related injury” in a riding competition. The patient was taken to Winnipeg Children’s Hospital.

The Grunthal accident was the second Southeast accident to require STARS services over the weekend. On Saturday, the air ambulance service was called to the Ile des Chenes area around 8 p.m. after an ATV crash. One person was transported to Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.
